Description

Beth Bird, Sunday in Dijon — Limited Edition Hand-Colored Etching, 40/100, Signed

Charming limited-edition hand-colored etching by Beth Bird, titled Sunday in Dijon. This delightful work portrays a woman in a flowing red polka-dot dress holding an ornate parasol, set against a rich, dotted background. Bird’s decorative patterning and playful repetition create a composition that is both whimsical and sophisticated. The warm palette and intricate parasol design bring an engaging sense of narrative to the scene. Signed by the artist in pencil lower left, titled lower center, and numbered 40/100 lower right. Beautifully presented matted and framed behind glass in a gold-tone frame, ready for display.

About the Artist:
Beth McCabe Bird is an American printmaker and storyteller based in Galena, Illinois. A graduate of the University of Iowa in Art Education, she studied under master printmaker Mauricio Lasansky and later pursued art therapy studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her artistic journey led her to specialize in etching, drypoint, and hand-coloring. In 1996, she established her own print studio in a century-old farmhouse near Elizabeth, Illinois, and became a Ragdale fellow. Bird’s works—often featuring women, birds, pies, and dresses—blend narrative charm with meticulous decorative detail. Her art is held in public and private collections and has been exhibited in institutions including the Dubuque Museum of Art and the Union League Club of Chicago.
