Beautiful Navajo horsehair pottery vase by noted artist Gerie (Geraldine) Vail, a celebrated member of the renowned Vail family of New Mexico potters. Gerie works alongside other Vail family members, producing distinctive horsehair pottery that blends traditional Navajo artistry with contemporary form. Crafted using a slip mold cast, this piece is hand-painted with intricate Southwestern geometric designs in earthy brown, deep blue, and white. The surface features the hallmark horsehair firing technique, where strands of horsehair are applied to the heated pottery, creating organic black veining patterns—each pattern entirely unique to the piece.
The vase measures approximately 6" high x 6.5" diameter and bears Gerie Vail’s hand-signed signature on the base. This combination of technique, artistry, and family tradition makes it a desirable addition for collectors of Southwestern and Native American art.
