Paalman Furniture Co. 1918 Drop-Leaf Tea Cart – Tray, Drawer, 2-Tier
Early 20th-century drop-leaf tea cart by Paalman Furniture Co., Grand Rapids, Michigan, patented May 28, 1918. Paalman was renowned for its patented retractable drop handle, a feature proudly marked on this cart along with the original metal label. Crafted of solid wood with fine veneers, it features scalloped drop leaves, a two-tier design, and large spoked wooden wheels. The upper section includes a removable wood-and-glass serving tray with iron handles and a velvet-lined drawer. This design reflects the fine craftsmanship and ingenuity of early American furniture makers and remains both functional and collectible—ideal for service or display.
Condition:
Good overall with wear consistent with age. Cart is slightly wobbly; wheels are loose. Velvet lining in drawer shows age-appropriate wear. Approximately ½" veneer loss on one drop leaf and ¼" loss on handle bar. There is finish wear on the tray and the original glass shows scratches. See photos for complete condition.
