An attractive 1893‑S British Gold Sovereign, minted in Sydney, Australia, featuring the first year of the Veiled Head portrait by Thomas Brock. The obverse shows Queen Victoria wearing her crown and veil, surrounded by the Latin legend VICTORIA DEI GRA BRITT REGINA FID DEF IND IMP. The reverse depicts Benedetto Pistrucci’s enduring design of St. George slaying the dragon, dated 1893, with the “S” mintmark clearly visible above the date. Struck in .9167 fine gold, this sovereign weighs 7.98g and contains 0.2354 troy ounces of pure gold.
