Struck in 1896 at the Melbourne Mint, this gold sovereign features the distinguished “Veiled Head” portrait of Queen Victoria by Thomas Brock, introduced in 1893 and used until the end of her reign. The reverse displays Benedetto Pistrucci’s celebrated depiction of St. George slaying the dragon, a timeless design admired by collectors worldwide. The “M” mintmark above the date confirms its Australian origin, adding historical and geographic interest.
