Description

Pagan Worship

Jason Litts
Oil on stretched canvas, signed lower right.
Dimensions: 36" x 36" (unframed)
Condition: Good, no damage.

A haunting surrealist vision, Pagan Worship by Jason Litts juxtaposes faceless, sinewy figures engulfed in fire against a dark, dreamlike landscape. A gnarled, ancient tree and a Stonehenge-like monument rise in the distance, evoking themes of ritual, transformation, and the timeless struggle between the earthly and the spiritual. Litts’ use of deep Prussian blues, fiery oranges, and ethereal whites creates a striking contrast that heightens the painting’s intensity and mystery.

Artist Biography:

Jason Litts is an autodidactic surrealist painter whose works are deeply inspired by the natural majesty and atmosphere of the Pacific Northwest. For over two decades, he has crafted emotionally resonant, dreamlike compositions that draw on memories, fragments of dreams, and unspoken emotional currents. His art is known for faceless figures, symbolic landscapes, and narratives that encourage personal interpretation.

Litts’ work has been exhibited in prominent galleries including The Broderick Gallery and The Ford Gallery in Portland, Oregon; Art at the Cave and Corridor Gallery in Vancouver, Washington; and the Rio Grande Fine Art Gallery in Las Cruces, New Mexico. In 2025, his triptych Beyond the Grasp was showcased in the acclaimed “Fluid Depth” exhibition at the Rebecca Anstine Gallery. His achievements include a Merit Award at the 2023 Anacortes Art Festival and participation in the Clark County Open Studio Tour, where his work was praised for its introspective depth and striking technical execution.

Known for his layered glazing techniques and bold contrasts of color and form, Litts’ paintings transcend literal representation, evoking emotions and questions that feel both deeply personal and universally human.
