Description

Teri Van Huss “Rising Sun” Silkscreen Print, 1972 – #12/23, Framed

“Rising Sun” is a limited edition silkscreen by artist Teri Van Huss, created in 1972. Numbered 12/23, this striking composition features an abstracted sunrise rendered in warm earth tones—deep browns, golden yellows, and fiery orange. Van Huss’ layered silkscreen technique creates a textured, painterly effect that highlights the vibrancy of the natural landscape. The work is hand-signed and dated in pencil on the lower right margin, with the edition number and title noted along the bottom edge.

Mid‑Century Printmaker & Community Advocate
Teri Van Huss is a noted 1970s-era printmaker recognized for her vibrant silkscreens and woodcut prints. One of her works, “The Wedding” (woodcut, 1971, edition 7/13), has appeared at public auction. In 2015, she exhibited “The Colors of Infinity” alongside other works in a group show in Las Cruces, NM, indicating active participation in regional art events. Additionally, her prints “Centurion” and “Damascus” were featured in a New Mexico art association member show.

Working primarily in silkscreen and woodcut, Van Huss applies bold, earthy palettes and organic forms to evoke abstracted natural landscapes. Her limited-edition prints from the 1970s are now sought by collectors of mid-century modern art. As both an artist and community leader, Van Huss continues to be remembered for her creative and civic contributions.
