Rustic Terracotta Double‑Spout Water Vessel — Rope-Wrapped
A handcrafted terracotta double-spout water vessel featuring a rope-wrapped arch handle and twin flared mouths. The form—a rounded body with a bridging handle and dual spouts—is evocative of traditional folk pottery from regions such as Mexico or the Andean highlands, where double-spout bridge vessels were commonly used for carrying and pouring water. This unsigned piece is made from low-fired red clay with a warm, earthy tone, showcasing characteristic burnishing and darkened fire marks from open firing techniques. Natural braided rope is tightly wrapped around each spout and across the top, offering both a functional grip and decorative flair.
Condition:
In good overall condition. No remarkable damage; exhibits shelf wear and surface marks consistent with traditional firing. Minor pitting and small chips near the base, with the rope secure and intact.
Dimensions:
Overall: 8.5 × 13.25 × 10.75 inches (Height × Width × Depth)
Note: Soup can shown in photos for scale.
