Primitive Wooden Goat Cart with Iron Hardware – 10-Spoke Wheels, Rustic Farm Wagon
This charming primitive wooden goat cart is a classic example of late 19th to early 20th-century rural craftsmanship. Constructed from solid wood and fitted with original iron hardware, it was likely designed for light farm hauling or as a children’s or goat-drawn cart. The cart features slatted sides, mortise-and-tenon joinery, and four spoked wheels—measuring 18" at the rear and 14.5" at the front, each with 10 wooden spokes and iron-rimmed hubs.
The handle is long and curved for pulling or guiding, and the overall construction reflects vernacular design with function and durability in mind. Its authentic weathered surface and original patina make it an ideal decorative piece for rustic displays, garden staging, or as a collector’s item from early agricultural life.
Whether you're drawn to its pastoral aesthetic or its historical value, this is a striking example of hand-built, utilitarian Americana.
Condition:
Good condition overall, with age-appropriate wear. Finish loss, surface weathering, and oxidation to iron components are consistent with prolonged outdoor use. Structurally sound, with no major damage or repairs noted. Presents beautifully for display.
