Crow Mother Kachina by M.A. Brody — Hand-Carved, Signed, Mixed Media
Signed on the base by M.A. Brody, this Crow Mother Kachina doll is a finely hand-carved and hand-painted representation of one of the most significant figures in Hopi ceremonial tradition. Crafted with layered natural materials including leather, feathers, and fur, the figure is mounted on a rustic wood slice base with bark edge.
The Kachina features a turquoise-painted helmet with black wing-like side panels and real feathers arranged in a crown, alongside a fur collar and traditionally patterned textile-style skirt. The piece holds a turquoise rattle and feather in outstretched arms, emphasizing its symbolic maternal and initiatory roles.
Condition:
In good condition overall, with some wear consistent with age and material. There is noticeable rubbing and minor loss to the painted finish, particularly on the object held in the right hand. Please see photos for detail.
Dimensions:
10 x 4 x 3 inches (Height x Width x Depth)
