J.E. Caldwell Sterling Bon Bon Dish — 6", Repoussé, 1885 Floral
An elegant sterling silver bon bon dish by J.E. Caldwell & Co., richly decorated with detailed repoussé floral motifs around a smooth, circular center. Dating to 1885, this piece is a fine example of late 19th-century American silverwork from one of Philadelphia’s most esteemed silversmiths.
Measuring 6 inches in diameter and weighing 117.3 grams, the dish features deep repoussé work of blooming flowers and leafy scrolls, beautifully framed within a scalloped border. The underside is clearly marked “J.E. Caldwell & Co.,” “Sterling,” “925,” and includes a pictorial date mark indicating 1885.
Ideal for serving candies, bon bons, or simply as a display piece, this dish blends function with classic Victorian charm. A desirable addition for collectors of American sterling or period tableware.
Condition:
In good condition overall, with light surface wear and shelf marks consistent with age. Tarnish is present; we'll leave the polishing to you. No visible dents or structural damage to the ornate rim.
