Lot of 5 Sterling Silver Spoons — SSMC, Ocean Grove, Pat. 1898, 70.4g
An attractive and varied lot of five antique sterling silver spoons, spanning souvenir, decorative, and functional styles. Notable pieces include a souvenir spoon engraved “Ocean Grove” and marked Sterling Sil. Plt. Co., a shell-shaped spoon marked Sterling SSMC (Sterling Silver Manufacturing Co., c. 1909–1932), and a floral-handled serving spoon stamped Sterling Pat. 1898 with an “RW” hallmark and pictorial image — likely a Victorian-era design.
Also included are a delicate twisted-handle demitasse spoon marked Sterling 8, and a pierced floral spoon marked simply Sterling. Together they showcase late 19th to early 20th century American silver artistry and souvenir culture. Perfect for collectors, small giftware dealers, or vintage tableware enthusiasts.
Condition
In good antique condition with expected wear from age and use. Surfaces show light scratches, tarnish, and patina; one bowl exhibits moderate oxidation. Sold unpolished to preserve original character. Please refer to photos for detailed views.
