Hutschenreuther “Margarete” Tea Set w/ 24K Gilt Tray — Marked, c.1939 Germany
An elegant and collectible three-piece porcelain tea set from the “Margarete” series by C.M. Hutschenreuther, Hohenberg, Germany, produced circa 1939–1940. This refined set includes a teapot, a double-handled sugar bowl with lid, and a creamer, all featuring an ivory glaze with deep cobalt blue bands and richly detailed gold scrollwork. The set is paired with its original 24K Electro G/P (gold-plated) engraved metal serving tray.
Each porcelain piece is maker-marked with the CMHR crowned shield, commemorating Hutschenreuther’s 125th anniversary (1814–1939). Handwritten pattern and decorator codes (e.g., “01857 67”) appear on the bases. The Margarete line was a luxury tableware series of the late 1930s to early 1940s, known for its regal aesthetic and high-quality hand decoration.
Condition:
In good condition overall. Light wear to gilded finishes and some visible scratches on the tray. The porcelain pieces show mild surface wear consistent with age but no visible chips or cracks. The gilding and cobalt remain well-defined. Please refer to photos for detailed condition.
