Description

Korean Mother-of-Pearl Black Lacquer Vase & Stand

Compact yet eye-catching, this mid-century Korean vase is rendered in lustrous black lacquer and hand-inlaid with shimmering mother-of-pearl: a courting bird pair amid peonies and bamboo, framed by brass mouth and foot rings. It rests on its original hardwood display stand, the square top supported by graceful cabriole legs and accented on each apron with shell-inlaid lotus blossoms. A refined example of the najeon-chilgi craft, the two-piece ensemble adds a sophisticated accent to a bookshelf, console, or illuminated cabinet.

Condition
Good overall: high gloss with scattered faint scratches. No structural cracks or repairs observed.
