Hand-Painted Chinese Satsuma-Style Moriage Ginger Jar w/ Stand, 8″
Vibrantly hand-painted and lavishly gilded, this globular ginger jar presents a continuous scenic panel of court ladies boating beneath blossoming trees, framed by raised moriage enameling and dense floral grounds on midnight blue. The domed lid echoes the blossom motif and is topped by a lustrous gilt knop. Underside bears a red boxed mark “MADE IN CHINA – SATSUMA”, indicating mid-20th-century Chinese export porcelain executed in the popular Japanese Satsuma revival style. A carved, ebonized hardwood stand (included) elevates the piece for display. Decorative yet functional, it makes a striking accent for an Asian-inspired interior or a colorful focal point in a broader collection. Don’t miss the chance to add this richly detailed jar to your décor or showcase.
Condition
Good overall; fine, even crazing typical of this ware. Minute chips inside lid rim; scattered gilt rub; wood stand shows an old, somewhat crude repair but remains stable. See photos for close-ups.
