Victor Victrola VV-XI Phonograph — Oak Floor Model, Style 24688-B, c.1917
Offered here is an original Victor Victrola VV-XI phonograph, Style 24688-B, manufactured by the Victor Talking Machine Co. of Camden, New Jersey, circa 1917. This cabinet model is one of the most iconic and widely distributed Victrolas of the early 20th century, known for its reliable mechanics and elegant craftsmanship. It features the classic “His Master’s Voice” logo both on the interior lid decal and metal maker’s plaque.
Constructed in quarter-sawn oak with rich medullary ray grain, this floor model showcases graceful cabriole legs, shaped panels, and subtle curves—a refined aesthetic typical of the Queen Anne revival style. This example retains its original “Exhibition” soundbox, crank, and internal horn system. Three steel needles and one vintage 78 rpm record (Since I Fell for You) are included.
The VV-XI was one of Victor's most successful models, and this Style B variant features a refined tonearm and upgraded cabinetry. Beneath the turntable area are double doors that open to a record storage compartment, with original shelves intact. The unit sits on its original wooden casters for easy mobility.
A handsome and mechanically sound piece of American audio history—ideal for collectors or vintage décor enthusiasts alike.
Condition
Good overall and tested in working condition. Cranks smoothly and plays records with strong sound. Wear consistent with age includes scratches, fading, and scattered chips—most notably two to the interior lid, one on the right leg, and one on the back. The original key and lock mechanism are missing. Maker's markings and decals remain legible and complete. Original casters are intact and roll well.
