Octagonal Gothic Revival Slate-Top Table — Attributed to Harvey Probber
A bold and sculptural octagonal table in the style of Harvey Probber, featuring a 1-inch thick removable black slate top over a geometric walnut base with Gothic-inspired arch cutouts. The pedestal’s faceted construction and black-painted insets lend architectural character reminiscent of mid-century American modernism. The slate top is marked “1761 Slate (1),” with a corresponding “1761 Slate (2)” label on the base, indicating a numbered matching set. The natural cleft texture of the stone contrasts beautifully with the rich, warm wood tones.
Ideal as an accent or drinks table, this piece blends timeless materials with a confident, postmodern silhouette. An uncommon design with strong visual presence.
Condition:
In fair condition with moderate wear. The slate top has surface scratches and small edge chips, consistent with use, along with a repaired chip to the bottom edge of the base (shown in final photo). The finish shows minor wear but remains attractive overall. Please refer to images for specific details.

Overall: 20.5 x 26 x 26 inches
