Description

Antique 400 lb Cast Iron Hanging Scale – Brass Gauge

A robust antique hanging spring scale with a cast iron body and brass gauge, calibrated up to 400 pounds. Likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, this tool was built for industrial or agricultural use, such as weighing grain, game, or freight. It features a forged iron ring and hook for suspension and load-bearing, and a recessed brass dial with deeply engraved numeric increments.

This scale offers both functional appeal and vintage character, with visible age wear and a rich patina throughout. Whether used as a display piece or as part of a vintage tool collection, it represents a fine example of utilitarian design from the turn of the century.

Campbell’s soup can shown for scale (not included).

Condition
In good condition overall, with oxidation, pitting, and finish wear consistent with age and use. Brass scale face is legible, and hardware is intact. Hook and loop show rust but remain solid. Please refer to photos for detail.
