Desert Bloom: Albert Alvidrez Tigua Pueblo Ceramic Cross
This hand-painted ceramic wall cross by Albert Alvidrez, a respected artist from the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo (Tigua), features a dynamic floral motif with pinwheel-like symmetry. The design is composed of alternating turquoise and rust-colored leaves accented in black, set against a pale matte ground and framed by bold black edges. The layout flows outward from the center, giving the piece movement and visual balance. The reverse bears his signature in black ink. Two recessed holes on the back allow for secure wall hanging.
Alvidrez is widely recognized for preserving and evolving Tigua pottery traditions through hand-crafted and painted ceramics rooted in cultural storytelling. A compelling and collectible example of contemporary Pueblo art.
