Pair Seyei Blanc de Chine Lamps — Reticulated Porcelain, Original Shades
This elegant pair of vintage table lamps by Seyei Fine China, crafted in Nagoya, Japan, features intricately reticulated blanc de Chine porcelain bodies with geometric latticework and applied plum blossom branches in high relief. Resting on carved wood bases, each lamp retains its original velvet-trimmed shade with rice paper lining on the lower interior. The dual lighting design allows the top, bottom, or both sections to illuminate independently, creating a warm, layered glow.
Seyei, established in 1896 in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, was renowned for producing high-quality porcelain wares. These lamps, likely from the 1950s to 1960s, exemplify mid-century Japanese artistry inspired by centuries-old Chinese Dehua Blanc de Chine techniques . The refined ivory-white glaze and sculptural floral detailing speak to careful craftsmanship and aesthetic harmony.
Condition:
In good condition overall, with some wear consistent with age. The porcelain bodies are intact and fully functional. One lamp cord is taped near the plug (order an easy replacement plug here).
