Mary McCoy Mixed Media Art Trio – Feathers, Turquoise & Handmade Paper
A visually striking set of three mixed media assemblages by environmental artist Mary McCoy, each intricately crafted using natural and tactile materials. These shadowbox works combine handmade paper, guinea fowl feathers, turquoise stones, glass and metal beads, dried plant fibers, and other organic elements. The layered compositions evoke vessel-like forms set against textured or patterned backgrounds, blending folk-inspired symbolism with contemporary abstraction.
Distinctly earthy and sculptural, the materials take center stage—feathers and grasses rise dimensionally from the surface, while hand-formed paper vessels cradle gemstone-like fragments. The interplay between found nature and artistic structure is a hallmark of McCoy’s environmental art practice.
One work is signed “Mary McCoy” in pencil, another bears a printed artist label verso, and one is unsigned. All three are framed in black wood shadowbox-style frames with white mats, ready to display.
Condition:
In good condition overall. Minor wear to frame edges and some finish loss from handling and age. The interior compositions remain intact with secure elements; light natural aging to materials is consistent with their organic nature.
