Description

U.S. Military 40mm Ammo Can – Steel, Marked, Seals Tight

Authentic U.S. Department of Defense 40mm ammunition can, constructed from heavy-gauge steel and originally used for linked 40mm M385A1 practice cartridges (NSN 1310-01-541-8181). This olive drab can is clearly stenciled with military data including “1344 Cartridges, WT 1944 LBS,” “SCF08L104-004,” and UN/DOT code “4A1/Y20/SS/94 USA/DOD/AYD.”

The UN/DOT code indicates a steel box (4A1) with a maximum gross mass of 20 kg, manufactured in 1994 by a Department of Defense contractor identified by the code AYD . Designed for rugged utility, it features a hinged lid with a secure latch, reinforced corners, and an intact rubber gasket for a tight seal. This is an empty can with spray paint marks on top and some residual tape adhesive—excellent for collectors, reenactors, or as heavy-duty gear storage.

Condition:
Good overall with visible wear from handling and storage. Scratches, oxidation at edges, and scuffing are present, along with paint markings and tape residue on the top. The gasket is intact, and the lid seals securely.

Dimensions:
10 x 19.25 x 6.25 inches
Weight: Approx. 15 lbs
