Description

Priscilla Gachupin Jemez Pueblo Pot — Signed Native American Redware

This hand-coiled redware pottery jar is by Priscilla Gachupin (1956–2003), an artist from the Jemez Pueblo.

The jar features a rich, burnished red clay body with bold black slip-painted designs—including feather-like and geometric forms—rendered in a stylized, flowing composition. The balance of symmetry and movement demonstrates Gachupin’s skilled craftsmanship and aesthetic sensibility. It is signed on the base: “Gachupin Priscilla Jemez P.”

Pieces by Priscilla Gachupin are less commonly found on the market today, making this a collectible example of late 20th-century Jemez pottery.
