Description

Signed Hopi Sikyatki Revival Polychrome Jar — 6.5" x 7" Hand-Coiled Pottery

This authentic Hopi polychrome jar exemplifies the renowned Sikyatki Revival style, inspired by ancient pottery unearthed at the prehistoric Hopi village of Sikyátki. Carefully hand-coiled, stone-polished, and traditionally fired, the jar displays intricate geometric and bird motifs rendered in natural red, black, and buff hues. The piece bears a partially legible signature, “A P...".

Reviving techniques popularized by master potter Nampeyo of Hano, this jar reflects the enduring legacy of Hopi artistry passed down through generations. Subtle fire clouds and light surface wear add character and affirm its handcrafted nature. A distinctive addition for collectors of Native American or Southwestern pottery, it offers both historical significance and timeless aesthetic appeal.
