Set of 3 Hand-Carved Kachina Dolls – Signed by Snyder & Yazzie

This set comprises three hand-carved and hand-painted Kachina dolls, each representing distinct figures from Native American traditions:

  • Chaveyo (Ogre Kachina): Signed by Snyder, this figure embodies the disciplinarian spirit known among the Hopi as a symbol of authority and order.
  • Woodpecker Kachina: Crafted by Yazzie, this doll reflects the industrious and persistent nature attributed to the woodpecker, a figure recognized in various Native American cultures.
  • Mudhead (Koyemsi) Kachina: Also signed by Snyder, this doll represents the clownish figure known for entertainment and social commentary during ceremonies.

Each doll is meticulously detailed, featuring materials such as wood, leather, fur, feathers, and yarn, and stands on a natural wood base. These pieces are not only artistic expressions but also carry cultural significance, making them valuable additions to any collection.

  • Chaveyo: Excellent condition with no visible damage.
  • Woodpecker: Good condition; some wear noted with color touch-up on the top left ear.
  • Mudhead: Good condition; minor wear with the bottom piece of the stick in hand missing.
