“Sin Silla” Mexican Ceramic Figure – Distressed Glaze Finish
Handcrafted in Mexico, “Sin Silla” is a sculptural ceramic figure designed to rest on a shelf or ledge, depicting a seated person without a chair—hence its name, which translates to “Without Chair.” The figure features a tall, elongated form and simplified facial features, topped with a spiked hair motif. Its glazed surface displays intentional distressing with a crackled, raku-like texture in pale turquoise, earthy browns, and oxidized gold tones, evoking both age and artistry. This piece is part of a tradition of contemporary Mexican ceramic work that blends folk narrative with modernist abstraction.
