Hand-Forged Bowie Knife — 10.5" Rasp Blade, Marked “H S”, 14.5" Overall
This hand-forged Bowie knife is a striking example of rustic frontier style craftsmanship. The robust 10.5-inch blade is crafted from a repurposed farrier’s rasp, proudly displaying its original crosshatched texture—an authentic touch prized by traditional bladesmiths. A broad spine and clipped point recall classic 19th-century fighting knives, while the hand-forged double quillon guard with curled ends adds historical elegance and practical hand protection. The full-tang construction is finished with rich dark hardwood scales, secured by sturdy brass pins, and bears the stamped initials “H S” at the tang’s end—likely the maker’s mark.
Condition:
In good condition with age-appropriate wear. The blade remains very sharp, retaining its distinctive rasp texture and forge marks. The wooden handle shows light surface wear and minor stable cracks near the tang but is secure and intact. Please refer to the detailed photos for a clear view of its character and craftsmanship.
