Description

Vintage Pair of Lynn Turner Organic Form Ceramic Bottles – 1980, Signed

This sculptural trio of hand-crafted porcelain bottles by Lynn Turner reflects the artist’s hallmark blend of playful form and refined ceramic technique. Signed and dated ©80 Turner, the set originates from Turner’s influential period at her Quicksilver Pottery studio in Berkeley, California. Known for her use of slip-cast porcelain and a minimalist pastel palette, Turner’s work explores the tension between nature and form, function and art.

Each vessel features a curvaceous, organic silhouette reminiscent of seed pods, fruit, or anatomical motifs—forms that echo mid-century biomorphism while remaining distinctly personal. The matte glazes range from cool lavender to blush pink and pale sage, with soft variations that accentuate the undulating surfaces. The purple and pink bottles retain their original, sculptural stoppers—hand-formed and fully integrated with the vessel’s character. The green bottle is without its stopper, though its presence remains visually complete due to the harmony of the design.

Turner’s ceramics often occupy the space between utilitarian vessel and contemplative object. This set is no exception—functioning as both collectible studio pottery and expressive, stand-alone sculpture. A rare and evocative ensemble from a notable figure in late 20th-century American ceramics.

Condition:
In good overall condition. The pink and purple bottles retain their original stoppers, which fit securely. The green bottle is missing its stopper. No chips, cracks, or repairs noted. Surface variations and glaze effects are consistent with the artist’s handmade studio technique.
