Paolo Soleri Bronze Wind Bell – Cosanti Originals, Hanging Sculpture
This is an authentic Paolo Soleri bronze wind bell, handcrafted at the renowned Cosanti Studios in Paradise Valley, Arizona. Measuring 28 inches in total length, this piece exemplifies Soleri's fusion of architecture and ecology, known as "arcology."
The bell features a tiered, temple-like form with a rich verdigris patina, indicative of its exposure to the elements and the passage of time. Suspended from a twisted metal chain, it culminates in a sculptural sheet-metal fin that catches the wind, producing a deep, resonant tone.
A maker's mark is present on the bell, consistent with Soleri's signature square stamp used on many of his works. This mark authenticates the piece as a genuine product of Cosanti Originals.
Condition:
Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. The surface exhibits natural oxidation and rust, contributing to its character. The finish shows signs of use, and the bell remains solid and sturdy.
Dimensions:
- Overall Length: 28"
- Weight: 1 lb 12.9 oz
- Campbell’s soup can shown for scale in photos
About Paolo Soleri and Cosanti Originals:
Paolo Soleri (1919–2013) was an Italian-American architect and visionary who studied under Frank Lloyd Wright. He founded Cosanti and later Arcosanti, experimental communities in Arizona that embodied his principles of sustainable urban design. Soleri's wind bells, produced at Cosanti, are celebrated for their unique blend of art, architecture, and sound.
Each bell is handcrafted using traditional casting techniques, making every piece distinct. The proceeds from these bells have historically supported the ongoing construction and maintenance of Soleri's architectural projects.
