14" Charming Chinese Rose Medallion Vase
This hand-painted porcelain vase is a vibrant example of mid-20th century Chinese Rose Medallion ware, recognized for its elaborate narrative scenes and intricate floral framing. The vase features alternating panels of courtly life—noble figures in traditional interiors and garden settings—framed by peonies, butterflies, and birds, all rendered in the famille rose palette of pink, green, orange, and gold. Gilt scrollwork and geometric banding accentuate the design. On the underside is a red printed stamp mark in Chinese script, typical of post-1949 export wares, along with a partially intact paper label reading “Made in the People’s Republic of China,” confirming production likely between the 1950s and 1970s.
Condition:
Good overall, with some wear and signs of use consistent with age. Minor rubbing is visible along the base. No visible cracks or repairs; the hand-painted enamel and gilding remain bright and well-preserved.
