Mid-19th C. Cast Iron Counter Scale — Double Brass Dials & Removable Basin
This authentic mid-19th century cast iron counter scale features double-sided engraved brass dials and a large, removable brass weighing pan. Though unmarked, its robust construction and classic styling reflect the utilitarian elegance typical of general store or apothecary scales from the Victorian era. The scale’s cast iron body includes fine scrollwork details and flathead screws, with dual dials designed for visibility from both sides.
A striking decorative accent, ideal for farmhouse kitchens, shop displays, or collectors of early trade tools. Honest signs of age—including a crack in the pan and finish wear—highlight its genuine antique character. A fine historical piece ready to enrich any vintage-themed space or collection.
Condition:
In fair antique condition with visible wear consistent with age and use. The brass pan shows a 2-inch crack, dents, scuffing, and oxidation. The cast iron base has pitting, paint loss, and surface wear. Both brass dials display finish wear but remain clearly legible. The scale is not currently calibrated. Please refer to all photos for detailed condition views.
