Antique Iron Wagon Wheel – 25½" Diameter, 8 Spokes, Pat. Nov 10 1881
This antique iron wagon wheel is a sturdy and authentic artifact from early industrial or agricultural transport. Measuring 25½ inches in diameter, the wheel features 8 evenly spaced iron spokes, each marked “Pat Nov 10 1881” and numbered “17”, radiating from a 4½-inch central hub assembly to a 1½-inch wide rim. Likely from a late 19th-century utility cart or farm implement, the piece showcases early mass-production casting and durable forged construction.
Entirely crafted from iron, the wheel has developed a naturally aged rusted surface and textured patina from decades of use and exposure. With its compact proportions and visible tooling marks, it serves beautifully as a decorative accent, reclaimed design element, or collector’s piece. A Campbell’s soup can is shown for scale to highlight the wheel’s versatile size.
Condition:
In good condition overall with age-appropriate surface rust, finish wear, and patina. The wheel remains solid and sturdy, though the hub assembly shows damage. Wear is consistent with use and era, and adds to the piece’s authentic vintage appeal.
