Description

Victorian Walnut Settee — Serpentine Back, Rococo Revival, c.1880

An elegant late 19th-century Victorian settee with a carved walnut frame in the Rococo Revival style, circa 1880. The piece features a dramatic serpentine triple-crest back, scroll arms, and front cabriole legs. The dark-stained walnut retains its rich, period finish and graceful curves.

The settee has been reupholstered in more recent years with a desert-themed fabric, depicting horses, buffalo, deer, cacti, and mountain motifs. This blend of traditional form and rustic patterning makes it an eye-catching addition to eclectic, lodge, or Western-inspired interiors.

Perfect as a statement piece or restoration project for collectors and designers alike.

Condition:
In fair condition, exhibiting signs of age and use. The upholstery shows wear, including stains and fading. The walnut frame has scratches, chips, and scuffing consistent with its age. Notably, the rear right leg has a split and may require reinforcement. Despite these issues, the settee remains largely stable and retains its historical charm. Please refer to photos for a detailed view.
