This 13-piece signed pottery set from Tonalá, Jalisco, Mexico features 7 shallow bowls and 6 matching plates, each marked “S Tonala Mexico.” These pieces represent the enduring tradition of Mexican folk ceramics, with hand-thrown forms, earthy glaze tones, and freehand-painted abstract motifs.
Likely produced between the 1960s and 1980s, this set embodies the rustic charm and craftsmanship typical of Tonalá workshops. The glazes include natural oxide-based hues such as sienna, cobalt blue, and cream, with painterly centers that make each dish unique.
