Unmarked Vollrath No. 5 Cast Iron Skillet – Double Spout, Heat Ring, c. Early 1900s
This is an unmarked No. 5 cast iron skillet attributed to the Vollrath Manufacturing Company, a Wisconsin-based foundry known for quality cookware in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. While not bearing a name stamp, this skillet displays typical Vollrath traits—most notably the underlined “5” on the base, double pour spouts, and a raised heat ring (also called a smoke ring).
Vollrath began producing cast iron around the turn of the century, and many early pieces went unmarked, especially those intended for private label or commercial sales. The slightly inset handle with oval eye, well-balanced design, and clean, refined casting further support the attribution.
Perfect for daily cooking or vintage display, this piece exemplifies early American craftsmanship.
Condition
In good vintage condition. Light pitting and seasoning on the cooking surface, with age-appropriate signs of use. Sits flat and has no cracks, repairs, or warping. Pour spouts and handle are fully intact.
