Description

Favorite Piqua Ware No. 8 Cast Iron Skillet – Smiley Logo, Dual Spouts, c.1916–1934

This antique No. 8 cast iron skillet was produced by the Favorite Stove & Range Co. of Piqua, Ohio, between approximately 1916 and 1934. It features the distinctive arched “smiley” logo on the base, a hallmark of the brand’s line during this period.

Notably, this skillet includes dual pour spouts, allowing for ambidextrous use—a practical design feature appreciated by both collectors and chefs. Additional characteristics include a raised heat ring for stability on wood-burning stoves, gently sloped sidewalls, and a teardrop-style handle, all indicative of early 20th-century American craftsmanship.

The cooking surface is relatively smooth with light use wear and a developed patina, making it suitable for both display and daily use. Favorite Piqua Ware skillets are renowned for their lighter weight and fine craftsmanship, often compared favorably to contemporaries like Griswold and Wagner Ware .

Condition

In very good vintage condition, exhibiting minor surface wear consistent with age. The cooking surface is well-seasoned with slight mottling, and the underside displays a rich patina. There are no cracks or repairs, and the skillet sits flat, making it suitable for both display and use.
