Mid-Century Mexican Tooled Leather Dopp Kit — Aztec Calendar & Eagle Motifs
A mid-century Mexican tooled leather dopp kit featuring richly embossed panels on both sides. One face displays an Aztec calendar flanked by a feathered headdress warrior and cactus, while the reverse features a stylized eagle—each bordered by traditional scroll tooling. This piece reflects classic handcraftsmanship from mid-20th century Mexico.
Made from full-grain saddle-brown leather, the bag is lined in natural pigskin, a hallmark of traditional Mexican artisan goods. It features whipstitched seams, a top metal zipper marked “Best,” and a clutch-style leather hand strap (detached at one end). The interior remains unpolished, offering a rustic, authentic character.
A collectible example of vintage Southwestern travel gear—ideal for display or use.
Condition:
Good vintage condition with visible surface wear and patina. Strap is detached on one end. There is a 1/2" area of wear to the side binding. The pigskin interior shows age-related darkening. Zipper is functional. Leather is unpolished and may benefit from conditioning. Please refer to photos for details.
Size:
Approx. 4 1/2" x 10" x 6" (Height x Width x Depth)
