This hand-carved driftwood shorebird sculpture is signed RGS, attributed to Robert Stennett, an artisan from the B & G Stennett studio known as Bob’s Birdcage in Crescent City, California. A regional example of Pacific coastal folk art, the piece reflects the naturalistic aesthetic and craftsmanship associated with the Stennett family workshop.
The bird’s body is shaped from locally sourced driftwood with a smooth, satin finish that highlights the wood’s organic grain and coloration.
