1978 Cadillac Eldorado Coupe – 425 V8, Early Build, Blue on Blue
This 1978 Cadillac Eldorado is a final-year ninth-generation example finished in metallic blue with a matching blue vinyl landau roof over a blue leather interior. Built in August 1977 at GM’s Clark Street plant in Detroit, it is powered by a 425ci V8 paired with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic 425 automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Equipment includes automatic climate control, cruise control, power windows and locks, and a Cadillac AM/FM stereo.

Exterior
Finished in Cadillac Blue with a matching landau vinyl roof, the Eldorado features signature chrome bumpers, quad headlights, and factory badging and trim. The body is straight, and the paint retains good gloss. Some wear is noted: cracking and peeling are visible on the rear taillight extensions, which were added to meet federal safety regulations in the late 1970s. The car rides on factory steel wheels with Cadillac-branded covers and narrow whitewall tires.
Interior
The cabin is trimmed in original blue leather with matching carpeting and woodgrain accents. Comfort features include power front seats, cruise control, power accessories, automatic climate control, and a period-correct Cadillac stereo. The dash and instrumentation remain original, and the odometer shows 59,438 miles. The driver’s seat has a visible seam tear at the bolster, though the rest of the upholstery presents well for its age.
Drivetrain & Mechanical
The 425ci V8 was factory-rated at 180 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque, paired with a front-wheel-drive Turbo-Hydramatic 425 automatic transmission. The engine bay remains in a largely original state with factory stickers and hardware visible. A newer battery has been installed.
