U.S. M1 Steel Helmet w/ Liner – Canvas & Leather Straps
This is a U.S. M1-style military combat helmet, likely from the Vietnam War era. It features a durable steel outer shell paired with a removable high-impact plastic liner, and includes original canvas chinstraps and an internal leather-adjustable suspension band. Finished in olive drab, this helmet reflects the rugged, utilitarian design used by American forces for decades.
While unmarked, this is not uncommon—many original M1 helmets lack visible stamps, especially on the shell. Identification is instead based on structural features like liner design, strap materials, and construction techniques. This example includes an H-style webbed liner and canvas chinstraps with metal hardware, consistent with mid-to-late 20th century U.S. military specifications.
A classic example of American field gear, this helmet is ideal for military collectors, reenactors, or display.
Condition:
In good condition with moderate wear from use. The shell shows scattered scuffs and surface scratches; the interior liner and leather band are intact but exhibit some age-related wear. All straps and buckles are present and functional. Please refer to the photos for detail.
