Vintage Collins & Co. Legitimus Machete — 24" Blade, WWII-Era USA Made
This authentic Collins & Co. Legitimus machete is a robust example of American craftsmanship from the mid-20th century. Bearing the iconic "Legitimus" crown-and-arm logo, this piece reflects the company's reputation for producing durable tools used extensively during World War II. The 24-inch carbon steel blade, exhibiting a classic Latin-style curve, was designed for both military and agricultural applications. Its full-tang construction is complemented by a three-rivet black composite handle, likely Bakelite, indicative of the materials used during that era. Measuring 29 1/8 inches overall, this machete not only serves as a functional tool but also as a collectible artifact representing a significant period in U.S. manufacturing history.
Condition:
In good vintage condition, showing signs of honest wear consistent with age and use. The blade has surface oxidation and slight chipping along the edge but maintains its structural integrity. The handle is securely attached with all rivets intact. The original label is partially legible, adding to its authenticity.
