Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knife – 11", England Marked, WWII-Era, w/ Sheath
This is a British Third Pattern Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife, introduced in 1943 and widely issued to commandos and special forces. Measuring 11 inches overall with a 6-inch double-edged spear-point blade, this iconic dagger features a ribbed zinc-alloy grip with 27 concentric rings. It is stamped “ENGLAND” beneath the crossguard, indicating post-war export production, and marked “4” on the pommel — identifying the mold as manufactured by the Wolverhampton Die Casting Company, a known wartime supplier.
The blade remains very sharp and was previously sharpened. It comes housed in its original brown leather scabbard with a reinforced metal tip and stitched retaining tabs, all intact. This knife was developed by William E. Fairbairn and Eric A. Sykes and became synonymous with British elite forces during WWII.
A significant collector’s item, this piece offers both historical value and rugged visual appeal.
Condition:
Good condition overall with honest wear from age. The blade is very sharp and shows signs of prior sharpening. Grip and crossguard are secure. The leather sheath is well-aged but complete, with sound stitching and hardware.
