Higonokami Sadakoma Knife & Modern Folder — Japan, 4"/3" & 4"/2.5" Blades
A pair of Japanese friction folders: a traditional Higonokami knife by Sadakoma and a modern minimalist counterpart. The darker model is an authentic Higonokami marked 「本割込」 and 「肥後守定駒」, featuring a 3" curved blade and 4" folded steel handle with finger notches and a thumb lever. It exemplifies the practical elegance of Meiji-era utility knives, still revered today.
The second knife reimagines the style in a sleek, light gray machined casing—with a chisel-ground 2.5" tanto blade and matching 4" closed frame. Both pieces operate via manual friction, with no locking mechanism.
Together, they highlight the evolution of Japanese pocketknife craftsmanship—from forged tradition to industrial minimalism. Ideal for collectors or everyday carry enthusiasts.
Condition Statement
In good condition overall, showing signs of gentle use and storage. Both blades remain sharp. The Higonokami has light surface marks on the handle and spine, while the modern knife shows minimal wear and no functional issues.
