Description

Ontario 1969 Jet Pilot Survival Knife w/ Leather Sheath & Sharpening Stone

This is an original U.S. military-issued Jet Pilot Survival Knife, manufactured by Ontario Knife Company in January 1969, as marked on the pommel: "ONTARIO, N.Y. 1-1969". Designed for aircrew survival during the Vietnam War era, this knife was standard issue for U.S. Air Force pilots and aircrews.

The knife features a 5-inch clip-point blade with a sawback spine, constructed from 1095 carbon steel with a zinc phosphate finish for corrosion resistance. The handle is composed of stacked leather washers, providing a secure grip, and is capped with a hexagonal steel pommel suitable for hammering.

Included is the original leather sheath, complete with a front pouch housing a Norton Pike sharpening stone (marked "C280 PY"). The sheath shows indiscernible markings on the rear, consistent with military issue of the period.

This knife is not only a functional survival tool but also a collectible piece of military history, representing the equipment used by U.S. forces during the Vietnam War.

Condition

In good condition, exhibiting wear, scuffing, and signs of use consistent with its age and service. The blade shows surface wear but retains its original shape and functionality. The leather handle is intact, with some darkening and drying typical of vintage leather. The sheath is structurally sound, with scuffs and wear marks; the sharpening stone is present and legible. Please refer to the photos for detailed views of the item's condition.
