c.1900 Anvil Wood & Iron Double Pulley Block – 17.5", Marked Cast Hook
An exceptional example of early industrial design, this c.1900 double-sheave pulley block combines solid hardwood construction with forged iron hardware. The substantial cast iron hook is clearly stamped "Anvil", a mark associated with heavy-duty rigging tools from the turn of the 20th century. This pulley was likely used in maritime, barn, or mill settings where mechanical lifting was performed by hand or animal power. Its worn wood and iron surfaces now offer a warm, patinated finish ideal for display in farmhouse, nautical, or steampunk décor—or as an authentic collector’s piece of early industrial equipment.
Condition
Good antique condition with appropriate wear for its age. The wood shows natural splits, surface wear, and minor chipping. Iron hook and fittings exhibit oxidation and surface rust, consistent with age and exposure. Structurally sound with a beautiful aged character.
