A refined and compact example of classic scientific design, this 13-inch Galileo thermometer is handmade in Germany and showcases the timeless beauty of blown glass. The clear cylindrical column houses a series of colorful, fluid-filled bulbs—each with a gold-tone medallion indicating specific Fahrenheit temperatures.
This particular model features 5 floating bulbs, with a temperature range from 64°F to 80°F. The vibrant bulbs (including red, blue, green, and amber) rise and sink with changes in ambient temperature, demonstrating Galileo Galilei’s buoyancy principle from the 1600s.
