(3) Antique Cast Iron Sad Irons – Maker Marked, Pictorial Star & Numbers
Offered here is a lot of three antique cast iron sad irons, each bearing unique maker's marks and distinctive period details. Likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, these utilitarian pieces were once essential tools in the home, heated on stovetops and used for pressing garments.
One of the irons—also the largest—features a pictorial six-pointed star mark and the number “6” on the handle. The thinnest model is marked “4,” while the shortest iron is stamped “UDX5.” Each retains its integral handle design, with the exception of the thinnest iron, where one end of the handle has detached. All pieces display the timeworn, rusted surface and deep patina consistent with age, adding to their rustic appeal.
An excellent set for collectors of antique tools or as vintage decorative accents.
Condition
In good antique condition overall with age-appropriate wear, surface rust, and pitting consistent with age and use. The thinnest iron has one side of the handle detached, but all other structural elements remain intact. Markings range from faint to clearly legible. These items are best suited for display purposes.
