Description

Antique Alluring Americana Sad Irons

  • Vintage Electric Fan Iron (Yellow) Enamel: Rare early 20th-century electric fan iron featuring a vibrant yellow enameled body and streamlined shape characteristic of 1930s–40s modern design. The iron has a bolt-mounted iron handle frame, though the original insulated grip is absent. Designed for use with a detachable cord (now missing), this piece reflects the transitional period of home electric appliance design and makes a striking display item.
  • Antique Gas Sad Iron (Gray): Heavy cast iron gas-powered sad iron with ribbed body and integrated cylindrical fuel tank. While the maker’s mark on the top is worn and indiscernible, the industrial styling and rugged build suggest American manufacture during the mid-20th century. It includes the original black molded handle and functional fittings typical of gasoline or white gas-fueled home irons.
  • Coleman Sad Iron (Blue Enamel): Authentic blue enamel Coleman sad iron, marked “Coleman Made in the USA” on the tank. This model was widely used in off-grid homes during the 1920s–40s, prized for its durability and reliability. It retains its original rounded fuel tank, black molded handle, and cracked enamel casing, with visible aging that adds to its collectible charm.

Condition:
Good, some wear and rust throughout. Yellow electric iron has age-appropriate wear and the yellow part of the handle is absent. Blue Coleman iron shows a cracked handle, enamel chipping, and missing cord. The gray iron has notable surface rust and a 1 1/2" x 3/4" area of metal loss on top from age-related corrosion. All are offered as collectible display items, not for functional use.

Size:

  • Yellow: 4 1/2" x 4" x 6 1/2"
  • Blue: 6" x 4" x 10"
  • Grey Iron: 7" x 3 1/2" x 9 1/2"
