1950s Aspirin & Cup Vending Machine – With Key, Wall Mountable
This rare 1950s wall-mountable aspirin vending machine was produced by the Pharmaceutical Vending Corporation of Kansas City, MO, a niche manufacturer active during the mid-20th century. Designed for public spaces like factories, offices, and transportation hubs, it dispensed a sealed unit containing two 5-grain U.S.P. aspirin tablets and a Kup-Pak® sanitary drinking cup for 10¢.
The machine features a cream and teal painted metal body with original graphics reading “Be Prepared for Headache Relief.” It retains its maker's mark, vending key, and a partially filled internal packet stack. This piece exemplifies mid-century industrial design and the era's approach to convenient over-the-counter medication access.
Condition
In good vintage condition, exhibiting scratches, paint chipping, and oxidation consistent with age. The lower label is discolored, and there is visible wear to painted surfaces and rust to internal housing, as shown. The machine is partially full, and the original key is included.
