Barker Bros Vintage Maple Highboy & Nightstand Set — 1954, Dovetail Drawers
Offered here is a charming vintage bedroom set by Barker Bros, dating to 1954 and crafted in solid maple wood. This Colonial Revival-style pair includes a 9-drawer highboy dresser and a single-drawer nightstand, both retaining their original warm finish and period details.
The tall chest features nine dovetailed drawers with traditional batwing brass pulls, offering generous storage in a vertically tiered design. An original "Barker Bros Diamond Jubilee" label remains intact, and the piece is factory marked “No. R 6510 XX CH CN CH 22547 / 9-54E 12A708-R6510-15 Map” on the back. The coordinating nightstand (marked “No. E 2238”) includes an upper drawer and an open shelf with a 12.5-inch vertical clearance—ideal for books or display.
A fine example of mid-century American craftsmanship, this set is perfect for traditional interiors or collectors of heritage furniture.
Condition
Good vintage condition overall with visible signs of age and use. The highboy retains a strong structural presence with some minor finish wear, light scuffing, and general surface marks. The nightstand shows heavy wear, including chipped trim on the rear left, a scuffed right rear foot, and other moderate signs of use such as scratches and finish loss.
